Graffiti Blackbooks – Bates

Description

The Scandinavian graffiti legend has been active since 1984 and is one of the very few who never stopped at all. Despite his decades of prolific output, the last book dedicated to him was released in 1998 – a rare collector’s gem still found in graffiti libraries around the world.

For the very first time, I’m opening up my archives and sharing a carefully curated selection of my original sketches – all drawn by hand on paper, never digitally. Each sketch holds a story, a memory, an emotion from the actions they were connected with. Until now, they’ve been kept strictly private.

The book features 208 pages in a large 30 × 21 cm format, making it a one-of-a-kind insight into the roots of stylewriting. Because one thing has never changed: sketching is the key to stylewriting. If you want to develop your style, you need to start on paper.
